Critical process
Connection and transport of panels between two separate process lines
The Initial Problem
The requirement was to connect two phases of the production line that were interrupted by a transit lane essential for plant logistics. The technical challenges were at the limits of feasibility:
- Transit Constraints: The need to guarantee the continuous passage of forklifts required a free clearance height of at least 3 meters.
- Structural Limits: The total height of the factory ceiling left a useful space of only 4.8 meters.
- Space Gap: The supporting structure, the transport system, and the panel itself had to coexist within a gap of only 1.8 meters.
- Interrupted Flow: Without an overhead connection, transferring panels between the two lines required manual handling or slow loading/unloading, creating a heavy production bottleneck.

The Neomec Solution
Neomec designed and installed a customized overhead transport system, a high-precision engineering solution:
- Ultra-Compact Design: A low-profile supporting structure and handling system were developed, capable of operating in the extremely narrow “sandwich” of space between the forklift passage and the ceiling.
- Line Synchronization: The automated connecting bridge receives sheets from Line A and delivers them to Line B smoothly and constantly, without interruptions.
- Integrated Safety: Despite the reduced height, the system guarantees total safety for both the transport of the sheets and the transit of heavy vehicles below.

Quantifiable Results and Benefits
The integration of the overhead connection transformed the department’s logistics:
Process Continuity (Continuous Cycle)
The two lines, previously isolated, now work as a single organism, eliminating downtime between phases.
Volume Optimization
Unused vertical space was utilized, preserving 100% of the ground-level viability for forklifts.
Zero Damage
Automated overhead handling drastically reduces the risk of impacts or incorrect handling of panels compared to ground or manual transport.
Logistical Efficiency
Reduction of forklift traffic within the department, improving general safety and the cleanliness of flows.
Why the Customer Chose Neomec
In a European-scale context, the customer was looking for a partner capable of solving a millimeter-perfect “puzzle.” Neomec was chosen for its ability to design a non-conventional mechanical solution, succeeding in balancing production needs with the insurmountable structural limits of the building.
